Bucher is advancing its long-standing partnership with Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) through major retrofit programs across the carrier’s A330-300 and 777-300ER fleets, reinforcing its role as a key supplier of cabin interior solutions.
The Switzerland-based manufacturer, known for its precision engineering and lightweight construction expertise, has supported SWISS across multiple aircraft programs over several decades. The latest retrofit initiatives build on that collaboration, focusing on enhancing both passenger experience and operational efficiency.
For the 777-300ER fleet, Bucher has been selected to support the retrofit of 12 aircraft, following earlier line-fit work on galley and stowage systems. The redesign aligns with SWISS’s “SWISS Senses” cabin concept, integrating updated galley layouts that reflect a more cohesive and refined onboard environment.
A key feature of the 777 retrofit is the introduction of a vacuum-based Galley Waste Deposit Unit, designed to efficiently manage liquid waste during flight. The system aims to reduce maintenance requirements, prevent pipe blockages and improve overall operational reliability, while automated shut-off functions help minimize downtime.
The project also includes new purser crew workstations equipped with integrated inflight video control centres, supporting enhanced functionality for cabin crew.
On the A330-300, Bucher is delivering retrofit enhancements across 14 aircraft, including redesigned galleys and upgraded stowage units. These solutions incorporate integrated self-service sections for both Business and Economy Class, combining operational functionality with a more elevated passenger experience.

The retrofit programs are designed to create a consistent onboard atmosphere across both aircraft types, with a focus on delivering a warm and welcoming boarding experience while improving catering workflows and cabin efficiency.
Bucher says the continued collaboration reflects the strength of its relationship with SWISS, built on shared values of quality, reliability and innovation.
With more than 70 years of experience in aircraft cabin solutions, the company continues to expand its capabilities and global presence, positioning itself as a key partner for airlines seeking to modernize interiors while maintaining high standards of performance and design.
