RECARO Aircraft Seating has announced that its RECARO R2 Economy Class seat will take flight with American Airlines this fall, marking the first installation of RECARO seating on an Embraer E175 aircraft by a U.S. carrier.

Designed for short- and medium-haul flights, the RECARO R2 was selected for its pre-certification qualifications and ability to meet American Airlines' entry-into-service timeline.

The seat features a six-way adjustable headrest and integrated tablet holder, allowing passengers to personalize the inflight experience. Its slim backrest design also provides additional knee clearance and personal space. The seats will feature American Airlines' signature dress covers, customized to complement the aircraft's updated cabin interiors.

"Our goal is to deliver the elevated experience customers want, while creating greater consistency across the American travel experience," said Rhonda Crawford, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience Design and Strategy, American Airlines.

"The E175 has built an unmatched reputation by continuously evolving to meet the needs of airlines and passengers," said Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation. "The introduction of our new RECARO seats demonstrates our commitment to investing in the platform and delivering enhancements that improve passenger experience while creating additional value for operators.”

The installation comes as RECARO enters its third year of partnership with Embraer, further strengthening the companies' collaboration in aircraft seating.

"Seeing our R2 seat enter the U.S. market on an Embraer E175 for the first time with American Airlines is a significant milestone for RECARO and a testament to our team's dedication and expertise," said Mark Hiller, CEO and Shareholder of RECARO Aircraft Seating and CEO of RECARO Holding.
