Emirates completes retrofit of two-class A380 aircraft

Emirates has completed the retrofit of its first two-class A380 aircraft as part of the airline’s multibillion-dollar cabin refurbishment program.
The reconfigured aircraft, registered A6-EUX, has entered service operating between Dubai and Birmingham featuring Emirates’ latest cabin interiors across three classes, including 76 Business Class seats, 56 Premium Economy seats and 437 Economy Class seats.
The aircraft is the first of 15 two-class A380s that the airline plans to refurbish as it continues expanding the rollout of its Premium Economy product across the fleet.
The retrofit was carried out entirely in-house by Emirates Engineering in Dubai and forms part of the airline’s wider program, which has now seen 95 aircraft refurbished, including 42 A380s and 53 777s.
A key feature of the reconfiguration is the introduction of Emirates’ Premium Economy cabin onto the upper deck of the A380 for the first time. The cabin features a 2-3-2 seating layout with leather seats, adjustable headrests, integrated charging ports and 13.3-inch personal entertainment screens.
The refurbishment also includes updated interiors across all cabins, incorporating new color palettes, refreshed carpets and cabin finishes, as well as Emirates’ latest design elements and wood accents.
“The Emirates retrofit program revolves around the central premise that we will offer our customers a truly elevated experience every time they choose to travel with us. The reconfiguration of our two-class A380 into a three-class layout that brings our popular Premium Economy seating onto the upper deck illustrates the extensive capabilities of our team.” said Emirates President Tim Clark in the May 20 press release.
Emirates said the remaining 14 two-class A380 aircraft are expected to be retrofitted by the end of this year, with future refurbishments anticipated to take around 30 days to complete.
