Hainan Airlines and Jiatai unveil long-haul narrowbody cabin solution

Jiatai’s JT520E long-haul Economy Class seat features ergonomic cushioning, adjustable headrests and enhanced legroom to improve comfort on narrowbody long-haul routes
Hainan Airlines and Jiatai Aircraft Equipment Co., Ltd. have jointly unveiled a new long-haul cabin product tailored for narrowbody aircraft, marking a significant step in expanding premium passenger experience on single-aisle operations.
Launched at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2026, the new offering centers on Jiatai’s JT520E long-haul Economy Class seat, designed for both widebody and narrowbody aircraft. The seat introduces a range of comfort-focused features aimed at bridging the gap between traditional narrowbody cabins and long-haul passenger expectations.
The JT520E is compatible with 13.3-inch high-definition inflight entertainment systems from major global suppliers and includes multi-density cushions, a four-way adjustable headrest and an enlarged tray table. The seat offers a width of up to 19.7 inches and a recline of seven inches, aligning with industry benchmarks for long-haul Economy comfort.
According to Jiatai the seat delivers measurable improvements over comparable products, including increased visual space, knee room and shin clearance. Optional features such as articulating seat pan adjustment, cradle motion with a near “zero-gravity” position and privacy wings are designed to further enhance passenger comfort and personal space on extended flights.
The product has been developed with long-haul narrowbody operations in mind, a segment gaining traction as airlines deploy aircraft such as the A321neo family on thinner, point-to-point international routes. For Hainan Airlines, these aircraft play a key role in connecting China with secondary cities across Europe, the Middle East and North America.
The airline’s selection of the JT520E reflects both a focus on passenger experience and a broader strategy to modernize its fleet while strengthening collaboration with domestic suppliers.
Jiatai, which holds airworthiness certifications from CAAC, FAA and EASA, continues to expand its global footprint as part of China’s growing presence in the international aviation supply chain. The launch at AIX 2026 underscores the company’s ambition to position its seating solutions within the high-end segment of the market.
As airlines increasingly look to maximize efficiency without compromising comfort, solutions like the JT520E signal a shift toward more premium, flexible cabin configurations in the evolving long-haul narrowbody space.
