Expliseat’s breakthrough TiSeat 2X entered commercial service on September 1, when Air France Hop operated flight AF1602 from Paris-Charles de Gaulle to Hamburg with the new seats installed. The milestone marks the first time the next-generation lightweight seating technology has flown with passengers, highlighting both airlines’ and manufacturers’ commitment to sustainable innovation in aviation.

Constructed with titanium and carbon fiber composites, the TiSeat 2X achieves more than 30 percent weight reduction compared to other aircraft seats. This translates to immediate benefits for operators, including reduced fuel burn, lower CO2 emissions per passenger and lower maintenance costs. The design is protected by more than 100 patents and has been recognized as a finalist for the Crystal Cabin Awards 2025 following its debut at MRO Americas 2025.

The Air France Hop cabin features 110 seats, each equipped with ergonomic design elements such as adjustable headrests, PED holders, dual USB ports, optimized storage, 46 centimetre width and three inches of recline—demonstrating that comfort can be preserved even with significant weight savings.

“Following our recent capital increase, factory expansion, and endorsement from major operators, this first flight proves our execution capabilities in delivering the lightweight / high performance innovation solutions our customers demand,” said Amaury Barberot, President and CEO of Expliseat. “Each deployment with prestigious carriers like Air France strengthens our market position and demonstrates real-world performance, advancing our mission to deliver proven lightweight solutions globally.”
