Replin by Hainsworth is showcasing its natural wool at AIX 2025

Replin by Hainsworth, a manufacturer of premium fabrics for aviation interiors, is returning to the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) to showcase the beauty of natural wool. Drawing from 80 years of textile heritage, Replin is continuing to explore the inherent qualities of undyed yarn, celebrating natural shades of sheep and alpaca fleece in a collection of interior fabrics.

Since 1945, Replin by Hainsworth has pushed the boundaries of textile innovation and design in the aviation sector, establishing highly durable fabric qualities that have since become the industry standard, the press release said. In 2021 the company continued this exploration by introducing the Steadfast Collection – a range of fabric designs using undyed fibres.

The fabrics of Steadfast incorporate wool yarns in natural shades – most significantly sheep and alpaca – into Replin’s seating and vertical surface fabric qualities, including the Eclipse and WNN. The yarns come in an array of subtle shades of cream, grey, brown and black. By combining these yarns with high-performance manmade fibres such as Nomex, Replin’s expert design team has created an extensive range of textures, patterns and constructions across the Steadfast Collection.

The Steadfast Collection also represents a bold step in Replin’s long-standing commitment to sustainability. With the inclusion of undyed fibres, the water consumption and chemical waste typically produced by the dyeing process is significantly reduced. By seeking to improve the manufacturing process, Replin can ensure its fabrics have a reduced impact on the environment while retaining the same high standards of performance and safety required by the aviation industry.

Ahead of AIX 2025, the design team has introduced two new themes to the Steadfast Collection – Cocoon and Tundra. Cocoon is a reinterpretation of Replin’s passenger seating fabrics, incorporating undyed boucle and merino wool into a Savannah-inspired colour palette. Many fabrics in the theme are 100 percent undyed, incorporating an undyed wool nylon yarn into the warp. The overall effect is homely and comforting.

Tundra, meanwhile, features Replin’s Eclipse vertical surface fabrics in luxurious Shetland and alpaca. The theme takes inspiration from dried grasses and rock strata in a warm grey colour story, creating small textures with marled yarns and multidirectional weaves.

Ellie Parkes, International Sales Manager at Replin, said, “We are very excited to showcase the latest evolution of Steadfast at this year’s AIX. These new themes are thoughtfully designed and realized by our amazing design team and celebrate the beauty of undyed yarns while still delivering Replin’s signature excellent technical performance. I am proud that we’re bringing these fabrics to AIX in our 80 years of operating as a business. We’ve grown alongside the aviation industry over the course of the 20th and the 21st centuries, and it is a testament to our heritage of fabric expertise that we are continuing to innovate today.”

Replin by Hainsworth will be exhibiting at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2025, in Hall 6 Stand 6B40.
