Christopher Whiteside, Chairman at AJW Group
AJW Group has announced a major development in its partnership with Azerbaijan Airlines. The airline has chosen to equip three A319 and six A320 aircraft with SkyLeather seats, a groundbreaking, eco-friendly material that promises to enhance passenger comfort and promote sustainability within the aviation industry.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Azerbaijan Airlines on this exciting endeavour,” said Christopher Whiteside, Chairman at AJW Group, in a June 6 press release. “The installation of SkyLeather not only elevates the airline’s commitment to sustainability but also provides passengers with an exceptional level of comfort and aesthetics. This partnership represents a significant step forward in revolutionizing the passenger experience while reducing the environmental impact of aviation.”
Created in partnership with Autostop Aviation, Azerbaijan Airlines has introduced SkyLeather, an innovative synthetic material that surpasses traditional leather in several aspects. SkyLeather offers remarkable durability, effortless cleanability, and — made of 100 percent water-based material — a lightweight structure. By substituting conventional leather seats with this cutting-edge material, the airline can achieve substantial weight reduction, resulting in decreased fuel consumption and a more eco-conscious operation.
By embracing SkyLeather, Azerbaijan Airlines not only enjoys the aforementioned benefits but also experiences significant cost savings. The exceptional durability and effortless cleanability of this synthetic material contribute to reduced Direct Maintenance Costs (DMC), enabling efficient seat maintenance and maintaining an aesthetically pleasing cabin environment. Passengers are set to enjoy an elevated flying experience with visually appealing and comfortable seating arrangements.
