El Al adds Octaspring® mattress for pilot rest
El Al Israel Airlines has partnered with Vanema, to provide pilots with the Octaspring® cabin crew mattress on its 777s.
The airline conducted several internal tests before announcing the selection of the Octaspring®. El Al has installed the mattresses onboard for its first flight this month.
Octaspring® has a patented foam spring technology that provides individual, breathable support, allowing natural thermoregulation as well as higher comfort levels. The technology also uses 50 percent fewer material in its production, saving up to three kilograms of weight per mattress on the aircraft.
Octaspring® is now available in a fully certified product portfolio of aircraft seats and cabin crew mattresses.
El Al plans to continue monitoring further crew feedback before rolling out the program across their entire fleet of 777.
Vanema worked in close partnership with Boxmark Leather to supply the cabin crew mattresses to El Al.
