Repair, Refinish, Revive: Mankiewicz gives cabin parts second life with coating solutions

Mankiewicz presented its interior coating solutions and explained how paint can be a game-changer for design, functionality and durability inside the cabin

Mankiewicz Aviation Coatings (Mankiewicz) highlighted the equal importance of design and functionality for cabin interiors in its exhibition at the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) 2026 last month. The global coatings manufacturer with its founding location in Hamburg, Germany, took a “Repair, Refinish, Revive,” approach to showcasing coating solutions at this year’s event, emphasizing the ability of coating to give worn cabin parts a second life.

“With our Hamburg location, the who’s who of the industry is essentially visiting us on our home turf,” René Lang, Executive Managing Director Aviation, tells PAX Tech of the company’s presence at the expo. “Beyond the various product topics related to our Interior Coating Solutions, it became clear that, especially in today’s economic environment, a relationship of trust between suppliers and customers is a fundamental basis for shared success.”

Efficiency meets design

Repair-Refinish-Revive: Mankiewicz presented an extended portfolio to give cabin interior parts a second life at AIX 2026

Mankiewicz brought forth collaborations with other suppliers, such as JAMCO and jetlite at AIX 2026. JAMCO’s booth featured Mankiewicz’s ALEXIT FST micro-effect coating system which is specifically suited to the aviation industry thanks to its self-texturing in a single-layer application for fast processes and high resistance to scratching and abrasion. On the trims of their seats they used ALEXIT EcoChrome replacing anodizing for a cheaper and quicker process as a more sustainable approach.

At AIX, Mankiewicz presented jetlite’s lighting system at its booth in a cabin mock-up, featuring characteristics capable of reducing jet lag on long-haul flights.

The chronobiologically effective lighting technology reduces jet lag and enhances passenger and crew well-being.

Mankiewicz says surface finish and lighting ambiance are two visual design elements that passengers perceive both consciously and subconsciously.

Together, they contribute to a pleasant travel experience, while lighting also showcases painted surfaces to their full advantage.

Beyond enhancing passenger comfort, the products showcased also demonstrate suppliers’ ability to deliver the reliable, consistent service and long-term support that airline customers depend on.

“It is essential to provide customers with a secure supply situation and reliable logistics in order to maintain process efficiency and product quality,” Lang says.

He notes that Mankiewicz’s 18 global locations across key aviation industry hubs, including Hamburg, Germany; Charleston, South Carolina, USA; Singapore, and Shanghai, China, create a strong foundation for achieving the reliability and efficiency customers are seeking.

“We can look back on a very successful AIX, with busy aisles throughout the entire show and an exceptionally well-attended Mankiewicz booth featuring in-depth customer discussions,” Lang concludes.
