By Tanya Filippelli

Turkish Airlines has expanded its 3,500m² lounge at Istanbul Atatürk Airport by adding another 2,400m², increasing the size by over 40% in order to meet the needs of growing passenger numbers.

A second floor has been added to the existing space in the lounge, connected by a spiral staircase, increasing the capacity of the lounge to over 1,000 guests.

Located in the departure area of Atatürk Airport, the expanded lounge features a children’s playground, library, billiards area, prayer room and teleconference section. The rest and shower spaces have also been expanded and additional massage beds have been installed.

Operated by Turkish Airlines’ catering partner, Turkish Do & Co., the lounge features a selection of beverages Turkish Cuisine. Menu items includes pastry dishes, Gözleme and Börek, as well as Mantı dumplings and other fruit, salads, appetizers and nuts native to Turkey.

The lounge combines both modern and traditional Turkish design based on Ottoman and Seljuk architecture and features a tea garden reminiscent of those found in Istanbul.

A virtual car rally experience, a miniature model of Istanbul and game consoles are some of the offerings the lounge has also provided for the younger passengers.

In keeping with Turkish Airlines’ ongoing support of golf related events, such as ‘Turkish Airlines Open’, the lounge includes a realistic golf
simulator for passengers interested in trying their skills while waiting for their flight.
