Egyptair first in Africa to commit to Panasonic's Astrova

Breaking news from the Dubai Airshow 2023, Panasonic Avionics announced today that it has signed an agreement with Egyptair for the installation of its Astrova seat-end solution on the airline’s A350-900 fleet.

The agreement makes Egyptair the first airline in Africa to select Astrova for its IFE. Panasonic Avionics’ solution will be linefit installed in Egyptair’s A350 Business Class cabins with 19-inch 4K OLED monitors and 12-inch monitors in Economy Class. Panasonic Avionics’ connectivity services will be installed throughout the airline’s A350 aircraft, the press release said.

Astrova enhances the opportunity for airlines to engage with passengers by creating an immersive experience. The screens feature the best high-definition capability available along with high-fidelity audio; passengers can connect using Panasonic Avionics’ Bluetooth technology while onboard.

Passengers on Egyptair will have up to 100 watts of direct current power via USB-C at their seat, allowing them to charge phones and tablets during all phases of flights. This set up also charges around 90 percent of the world’s laptops.

Panasonic Avionics’ IFE seat-end solution also features programmable LED lighting to enhance the passenger experience and optimize Egyptair’s Business Class cabin environment.

Egyptair passengers in Economy Class will be able to view IFE on 4K seatback monitors with this high-performance system. They will also have access to faster network speeds and higher storage capacity, along with USB-A and USB-C charging in their seat.

Panasonic Avionics’ worldwide inflight connectivity services will also be available to Egyptair’s passengers. This allows for high-speed connectivity across 99.9 percent of all air travel routes.
