Panasonic Avionics names new Regional Vice President, China
Donny Cheah has been named Panasonic Avionics Corporation's (Panasonic) Regional Vice President, China.
A press release from Panasonic notes that the appointment is meant to increase the company's presence in China, the fastest-growing region in the world when it comes to air travel. Panasonic alone has sold more than 2,000 IFEC solutions to the region's airlines.
Cheah will head the newly established Panasonic Avionics (China) Co., Ltd. in Shanghai. As President, Cheah's responsibilities to the company will include overseeing customer support, repairs and maintenance, account management, and media and creative services. In addition, he will lead the service functions of Panasonic departments in the China region, including quality, human resources, IT and customs compliance.
Cate Gutowski, Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Services at Panasonic Avionics Corporation, said in a statement: “Donny’s wealth of commercial knowledge, and business leadership expertise in the Asia Pacific market will be instrumental in leading our China team as we grow our presence in this exciting and dynamic region.”
“The Asia Pacific region, and China in particular, is a rapidly growing aviation market - and one that is integral to Panasonic’s success in the region," Cheah commented. "To be joining the company at this exciting time as it evolves into a digital services and solutions business is a great honor.”
Cheah has amassed 25 years of experience in technology and telecommunications, most recently serving as President and CEO at Sumitomo Drive Technologies.
