AERQ to discontinue operations, cease offering AERENA IFE system

AERQ will discontinue its operations after five years in the industry
AERQ has announced it will discontinue its business activities. The news comes after a five-year build-up and development phase for the Hamburg-based Cabin Digital Platform start-up.
As a result, AERQ will immediately stop offering and development of its platform-based inflight entertainment (IFE) system AERENA.
AERQ, founded in 2019 by Lufthansa Technik and LG Electronics, has been developing a digital cabin solution for commercial airlines, known as AERENA. The IFE solution was recently launched for operational demonstration on an A320.
“AERQ was facing significant obstacles to enter a very sensitive market for IFE systems. For this reason the shareholders have mutually agreed to conclude AERQ’s journey here and part ways. AERQ’s operations will, as a result, cease with immediate effect,” the November 4 press release said.
This decision affects around 180 employees at AERQ’s Hamburg headquarters, who have already been informed.
