FlightPath3D's flight companion Luci is now operating on more than 700 aircraft
FlightPath3D’s Flight Companion, Luci, is now flying on more than 700 aircraft, less than a year after its introduction. The rapid adoption demonstrates the appeal of integrating contextually relevant, dynamically curated content into the moving map experience as airlines work to increase engagement with passengers during a trip, FlightPath3D said in an August 20 press release.
“Luci acts as a personal concierge inflight, combining both flight information and destination expertise all in one, always available at your fingertips,” said Duncan Jackson, President of FlightPath3D. “Want to know how long until you arrive? Curious about what's below you? Looking for family-friendly spots at your destination? Luci has you covered.”
Luci integrates as an overlay on the moving map in a chat-like experience, rather than redirecting travellers to a separate screen. In the past 30 days Luci has delivered more than 19 million destination-specific messages to more than 2.6 million passengers.
Luci’s functions blend with flight status updates and suggestions of things to do, allowing airlines to include specific promotions and ads around their rewards or partner programs.
Jackson also said, “With the ability to surface relevant information to passengers in a natural, entertaining fashion, airlines will be able to increase engagement, boost loyalty, and deliver targeted offers more easily than ever before.”
Behind the scenes, Luci leverages AI to help parse millions of location descriptions, reviews, and images to help build the content database used for point of interest and destination details. The resulting data is reviewed by humans to ensure accuracy and relevance for the inflight experience.
