SWISS selects historical films for IFE offering
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has expanded its inflight film offering starting this month in collaboration with filmo, an initiative of the CH.Film association dedicated to preserving Switzerland’s film heritage by digitizing it.
The airline now offers six selected works that are of particular significance in the history of Swiss film to add to its existing range of Swiss-themed inflight entertainment under the “Made in Switzerland” banner.
The films subjected to digital preservation by filmo are selected by independent specialists on the basis of various criteria: some are by Swiss director and producers while others depict certain events or periods in Swiss history or regions of the country.
According to today’s release from SWISS, “What they all have in common is their outstanding quality, be it in cultural, history and/or aesthetic terms.”
To introduce the new partnership, SWISS is offering the follow films under current plans for a six-month period, after which they be succeeded by a new partnership selection:
- San Gottardo (1977) – Villi Hermann
- Les petits fugues (1979) – Yves Yersin
- Reise der Hoffnung (1990) – Xavier Koller
- War Photographer (2001) – Christian Frei
- Das Fräulein (2006) – Andrea Štaka
- Home (2008) – Ursula Meier
