Turkish Technic teams up with Havelsan for joint venture
A joint venture between Turkish Technic and Havelsan has been formed to design, produce, sell, market and repair software used in civil aviation for inflight entertainment and internet service provider systems, among other uses.
The newly formed company plans to linefit Turkish Airline's new generation aircraft, slated to be delivered between 2022 and 2023, with IFE systems as well as the aircraft of other domestic and international airlines. A statement released today notes that the joint venture plans to do this by producing systems with "high technology and competitive pricing."
Ahmet Karaman, CEO of Turkish Technic, commented in the May 8 statement: “Besides our comprehensive maintenance and repair capabilities and our high-quality aircraft galley and aircraft seat producer JVs, we are pleased to operate in inflight entertainment market through our joint venture company to be established with Havelsan. I believe that this step will create many opportunities for both parties and also customers.”
Ahmet Hamdi Atalay, CEO of Havelsan, also stated: “Havelsan has demonstrated its claim in civilian aerospace as well as defense technologies. [This] joint venture company by Havelsan and Turkish Technic will increase Turkey’s civil aviation export. Combining our forces will make us enable to reach global markets.”
The company will operate out of Turkish Technics’ Sabiha Gökçen International Airport facilities during 2018 in order to target domestic airline and other operators within the area.
