Aer Lingus takes Starlink Wi-Fi onboard

Aer Lingus passengers can connect to free Starlink Wi-Fi across all cabins on equipped aircraft
Aer Lingus has equipped its first aircraft with Starlink, bringing free high-speed Wi-Fi to passengers across all cabins.
Passengers travelling from Dublin to New York JFK on flight EI105 were the first to experience the service, which enables streaming, working, gaming and browsing in the air. The airline said the launch marks a major step forward in its customer experience.
Starlink uses a low-Earth orbit satellite constellation to provide low-latency connectivity. Passengers on Starlink-equipped Aer Lingus aircraft will be able to connect multiple devices and access download speeds of up to 500+ Mbps.
The first Aer Lingus aircraft fitted with Starlink is an A330, EI-EIN. After the installation of Starlink antennas, the aircraft underwent testing ahead of its first passenger flight.
The airline will roll out Starlink across its fleet in phases, beginning with aircraft operating North America services, followed by aircraft serving European destinations. Starlink Wi-Fi is expected to be available across the airline’s long-haul fleet by the first quarter of 2027.
The short-haul fleet, excluding Aer Lingus Regional aircraft, will also be upgraded with Starlink connectivity.
“Introducing Starlink on our first aircraft is a big moment for us in Aer Lingus,” said Lynne Embleton, Chief Executive Officer at Aer Lingus. “It means our customers can browse, download and stream at speeds as fast as, or quicker than, they would get at home.”
Embleton said the connectivity will give passengers more flexibility in how they spend time on board, while also helping crew and teams work more efficiently.
“As we mark our 90th year, Starlink is just one of a number of customer improvements we are bringing to Aer Lingus,” said Embleton.
The launch builds on Aer Lingus’ wider investment in digital innovation, including improvements to its mobile app and Express Bag Drop kiosks.
Aer Lingus said the rollout will support a more connected travel experience across its network, giving passengers free access to reliable inflight internet for entertainment, communication and productivity.
