Emirates introduces Starlink Wi-Fi on A380 to deliver next-generation connectivity

Emirates introduces Starlink inflight Wi-Fi
Emirates has introduced Starlink Wi-Fi on its A380, bringing next-generation inflight connectivity to the world’s largest passenger aircraft.
The new system represents a significant advancement in onboard internet performance, increasing available bandwidth from less than one megabit per second on earlier systems to more than two gigabits per second per aircraft. Enabled by the installation of three Starlink antennas, the upgrade supports high-speed connectivity for streaming, browsing, gaming and working throughout the flight.
The service will be offered complimentary to all passengers across every cabin, with streamlined sign-up and access. Emirates says the experience is designed to deliver connectivity comparable to ground-based networks, even at cruising altitude.
The A380 installation introduces a customized configuration tailored to the aircraft’s double-deck structure and high passenger capacity. Additional wireless access points and optimized inter-deck integration ensure consistent performance throughout both cabins, addressing the unique technical demands of the aircraft.
The introduction of Starlink on the A380 forms part of a wider connectivity strategy across the fleet. The airline has already equipped 25 777-300ER aircraft with the system, with more than 650,000 passengers having experienced the service to date.
Looking ahead, Emirates plans to expand Starlink across more A380 aircraft this year, with installations to be carried out at its engineering facilities in Dubai. Future enhancements will include Live TV streaming via personal devices, with plans for integration into seatback screens.
The investment underscores Emirates’ continued focus on advancing the passenger experience through high-performance inflight connectivity, alongside ongoing cabin upgrades and service enhancements across its fleet.
