Lufthansa Group introduces free messaging on European flights
Passengers travelling on Lufthansa’s short and medium-haul flights within Europe can look forward to being reachable above the clouds. Starting mid-January 2024, Lufthansa is set to offer unlimited free messaging, including photos. Streaming and surfing the Internet inflight is also set to become more affordable, according to Lufthansa Group press release.
Travellers will be able to send and receive as many messages, including photos, on their smartphone or tablet during the flight free of charge. This service will be available on A320 family aircraft that have WLAN.
Other Internet packages on board, such as streaming, will see a reduced tariff from mid-January. Passengers can expect to pay nearly 50 percent less than they did previously.
"Lufthansa is investing around two billion euros in product and service improvements. In the process, we have implemented and planned many large, medium, and also smaller initiatives that make travelling with Lufthansa an even better experience," said Heiko Reitz, CCO of Lufthansa Airlines. "One great example is Free Messaging. I am pleased that our guests will in future be able to stay in touch with their relatives or business partners above the clouds - free of charge."
To use the free service, passengers must log into FlyNet with a Miles & More service card number or use an email address that is registered with the Lufthansa Group Travel ID. Login and registration are possible during the flight.
