Innovative onboard food concept provider Foodcase International has created a meal delivery system designed to ease and elevate the airline passenger and crew experience.

Aptly titled The Butler, the concept provides a complete solution from delivery to disposal. It replaces the traditional tray setups with a fully sealed Foodcase crafted tray box. The appetizers, desserts and/or beverages are pre-packed into the sealed cold section whilst the hot meal is placed in when ready to serve. These tray boxes can be straightaway packed and transported in outer cartons optimized for airline trolleys expanding the meal capacity per full size trolley by approximately 15 percent. The cartons grant easy access to the meals thereby reducing crew movements and improving handling. The functional yet simplistic design of the entire concept reduces contact points and contributes to a stress free experience for the crew and passengers alike.

Multiple branding opportunities on the kraft box allow airlines to share their stories and brand messaging directly with passengers.

The use of compostable and recyclable materials, space and weight savings, and logistical efficiency allows the Butler concept to also emerge as a big winner in terms of environmental sustainability. Additionally, Foodcase is also working on facilitating a closed loop system for the meal trays that contributes to a circular economy.

The Butler concept is available for frozen, chilled or ambient solutions and can be easily tailored to fit catering needs.
