DFMi highlights healthy onboard snack options

By Jane Hobson

FMi has announced two snacking options from its partners for inflight food service. The snacks include trail mix from Gourmet Nut and snack bars and seed butters from 88 Acres.

The "Power Up Mega Omega Trail Mix" by Gourmet Nut

Based in the New York City area, Gourmet Nut has created the “Power Up Mega Omega Trail Mix.” The snack is a blend of nuts, fruits and seeds all made from fresh, premium ingredients and is an ideal source of vitamin and protein for travelers. Walnuts and almonds provide Omega-3 and Omega-6, which are considered healthy fatty acids for the heart, while mango and cranberries are a source of antioxidants. The dash of protein and vitamin B rich pumpkin seeds make for a convenient and healthy inflight snack.

8 Acres makes seed-based bars and butters in convenient single-serve packages

From Massachusetts, 88 Acres makes snacks from sustainable plant protein and seeds, “the simplest, most fundamental ingredient in nature.” For airlines, the company offers its Seed Bars and Seed Butters, in convenient single-serve formats. All the products are made in a bakery facility free of peanuts, tree-nuts, dairy, eggs, soy and sesame.
