Norwegian and gategroup enter long-term partnership
A February 7 press release from gategroup announced that they have reinforced their relationship with Norwegian in a deal that will make gategroup member Gate Gourmet the airline's preferred vendor for long-haul airline catering (19 initial catering stations have been announced so far) and gateretail their operator of retail operations across all worldwide flights.
This agreement continues gategroup and Norwegian's more than 16-years-strong working relationship. According to the release, Norwegian transported in excess of 33 million passengers to 150-plus global destinations in 2017, making it the sixth largest low-cost carrier in the world.
“We are excited to continue supporting the global expansion and commercial innovation of this quality-driven and rapidly growing airline," gategroup CEO Xavier Rossinyol said in the company's statement. "This multi-year contract further strengthens our market-leading position in Scandinavia and underscores our successful business transformation in one of our key markets.”
Norwegian Head of Inflight Services, Bjørn Erik Barman-Jenssen, also commented on the agreement in the release. “Strengthening the cooperation with the industry leading in-flight catering and retail partner allows us to pillar our existing route network in Europe, Asia and the US, and to support our growth and expansion plans into new markets such as Latin America and the Far East," he said. "This global partnership agreement underscores our continued commitment to the relationship with gategroup."
