Starbucks opens at Bordeaux Airport

By Rick Lundstrom

SSP and Starbucks announced the opening of the first coffeehouse at Bordeaux Airport earlier this week.

The 30-metre square, kiosk-format store is located in the airport’s Hall A, and can seat 15 customers. A second outlet is scheduled to open in spring next year, outside the airport buildings between Hall B and the Billi terminal. The number of passengers traveling through Bordeaux is up by 20% in 2014.

The new coffeehouse offers a comprehensive range of products, including Fairtrade certified ethically grown and sourced Arabica coffees as well as a range of sweet and savory snacks throughout the day.

“We are particularly pleased to be opening this, our twelfth, Starbucks coffeehouse in France with our partners at this important airport,” said Gérard d’Onofrio, managing director SSP France, Belgium and Holland.

Olivier de Mendez, regional director for Starbucks France said the opening was an important step for the company’s development in the French market. “We look forward to sharing the Starbucks experience with “Les Bordelais” and our customers at Bordeaux Airport. Our partnership with SSP demonstrates our strategic commitment to expand our business in travel locations, which are increasingly important to our business,” he said.
