The Coffee Club opens shipping container cafes at Brisbane Airport

By Tanya Filippelli

The Coffee Club has opened its first franchised recycled shipping container cafes on the Domestic Terminal forecourt at Brisbane Airport (BNE). The stores feature sustainable green rooves, fully customized interiors and comfortable, covered outdoor seating for up to 60 customers.

Andrew Brodie, general manager airline and retail management at Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC), said new concept stores characterized the ‘fresh welcome’ BNE was striving for.

"These vibrant new cafés will up the ante, offering BNE travelers a contemporary alfresco dining and coffee shop experience boosting a real ‘sense of place’,” Brodie added. “These shipping container cafés provide a significant entry statement to our Domestic Terminal and we have no doubt travelers to and from BNE will embrace the new offerings, which set us apart from any other airport in Australia.”

BNE has had a long and successful partnership with The Coffee Club which has stores at the International Terminal and Skygate, with its fifth store due to open at the new BNE Service Centre mid-July.

“The Coffee Club model is one that welcomes innovation which is why we are proud to announce these will be the first franchised shipping container coffee stores in Australia. We pride ourselves on providing our customers with good food, great service and excellent coffee and are looking forward to welcoming travellers to our two new shipping container stores,” said John Lazarou, director at The Coffee Club.

The three new airport Coffee Club stores will open seven days a week from 5:00am-10:00pm.
