SSP, Finavia make plans for Finland airports

Helsinki Airport and three regional airports are part of the contract between SSP and Finavia

SSP this month signed a 10-year €300 million (US$417 million) deal with Finavia to operate at Helsinki Airport and at Finland’s three regional airports: Turku, Oulu and Rovaniemi.

Helsinki Airport is undertaking a two-year rebuilding program. SSP will run 11 outlets at Helsinki, and nine across the three regional airports. The redevelopment project will see SSP invest €6.5 million (US$9 million) at Helsinki and €1.5 million (US$2 million) at the regional airports.

“Helsinki is a fast growing hub airport, and it aims to see annual passenger numbers rise from 15 million to 20 million by 2020,” said Kate Swann, CEO of SSP. “We’re delighted to be building on our long-standing relationship with Finavia and will continue to deliver outstanding food and beverage over the next 10 years to help it achieve its aims.”

SSP has has introduced international brands including Starbucks and O’Learys, as well as creating flagship concepts such as the Café Alvar A, the Restaurant and Deli Fly Inn, and the Wine & View wine bar.
