By Tanya Filippelli

Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport has unveiled its new Welcome Zone for travelers seeking information and advice on France’s Rhône-Alpes region.

The new Welcome Zone has advisors and multimedia devices to provide tourists with information they need on the local area, transport links and airport services.

Airport operator Lyon Airports opened the 165m² space under a new agreement with three local operators: Rhône Alpes Tourism, Only Lyon Tourism and Congress, and Rhônexpress, the public transport association of Lyon-Saint Exupéry.

“This new area is remarkable, not only because of its original concept of centralizing all passenger information in one place, but also because of the collaboration between the prominent project partners,” said Philippe Bernard, president of Lyon Airports.

The Welcome Zone is divided into three key areas: the ‘Tourism and Airport’ area, the ‘Lounge’ space and the ‘Transport’ zone.

The Tourism and Airport area provides visitors with information and advice about services within the airport as well as, in the region while in the Lounge area, travelers can access free tourist and airport information through touch screen tablets and a wall of digital images. The Transport ticket office provides travelers with information and tickets for public transport in the region.

Each zone has been tailor-designed and created by Stel, a subsidiary of Vinci Construction, to offer a contemporary, elegant look and feel.

The Welcome Zone is open from 6:00am until 11:00pm, with an additional 24-hour interactive information point.
