Salt Lake City Airport brings animal-assisted therapy to passengers
Salt Lake City International Airport has collaborated with Therapy Animals of Utah to bring registered therapy dogs to visit passengers at the airport.
Therapy Animals of Utah is an affiliate of Pet Partners, which improves people’s health through positive interactions with animals.
Two days a week, three volunteer Pet Partner teams made up of a handler and a specially trained dog will roam the airport seeking friendly encounters with passengers.
“This type of animal interaction has been proven to be beneficial to people in a variety of situations,” said Maureen Riley, executive director of the Salt Lake City Department of Airports. “We look forward to offering this innovative program to our customers.”
Therapy Animals of Utah has been bringing animal-assisted therapy and activity services to the US state of Utah since 1997.
