Merlo Coffee opens at Brisbane Airport

By Tanya Filippelli

Merlo Coffee has opened on level one of the Domestic Terminal at Brisbane Airport.

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) partnered with Australian airport tenancy management firm, Airport Retail Enterprises, to open Merlo Coffee. BAC general manager of airline and retail management, Andrew Brodie, said the new permanent Merlo provides an opportunity to showcase local retailers and make sure the airport is distinctly Brisbane.

“Our city is one of the most livable places in the world and it is important we incorporate this into our terminal, and Merlo with over 20 years’ experience, will offer the perfect shot of Brisbane to the travelling public,” Brodie said.

The coffee chain will offer fresh espresso served in Merlo’s iconic blue cup.

“There is nothing better than a great cup of coffee either before or after a flight,” said Dean Merlo, founder of Merlo Coffee. “We are thrilled to see the Merlo name as a permanent part of Brisbane Airport and this tenancy ensures us a convenient location to welcome passengers to the home of the fresh espresso.”

Merlo Coffee was named Australia's favorite coffee in Lifestyle FOOD's “I Love FOOD Awards” in 2012.
