LATAM to offer on-board Wi-Fi starting in 2018

By Rachel Debling

In-flight internet will be offered on LATAM Airline Group’s domestic and regional routes in Brazil beginning in the first half of 2018, according to a November 28 release from the company.

The rollout across the LATAM Airlines Brazil fleet is slated to be finished sometime in 2019. Once complete, Wi-Fi will be installed into the carrier’s other markets in a to-be-announced timeframe.

Gogo was tapped by LATAM for the in-flight internet service, which will provide several options to passengers, from a basic service to a premium connection for streaming.

This service will allow easier access to LATAM Entertainment, the airline’s short-haul entertainment system through which travelers can watch movies, TV and more, at no cost to them.

Claudia Sender, Senior Vice President of Clients, LATAM Airlines Group, explained in the release: "As part of our ongoing commitment to offering our passengers the best possible onboard experience, we are introducing the most modern and innovative onboard Wi-Fi service on the market. With in flight internet and LATAM Entertainment, our onboard entertainment system, passengers will have the freedom to choose how they want to enjoy their journeys on our aircraft.”
