ViaSat plans Exede® for biz jets

By Rick Lundstrom

ViaSat Inc. is bringing its Exede® In The Air system to business executives, fractional owners, charter and jet card flyers, and others who rely on general aviation jets.

The service offers a similar experience to the high-speed in-flight Internet available on JetBlue Airways and United Airlines.

“Flight tests have recently validated multiple devices simultaneously using high-bandwidth applications such as multi-site videoconferencing, social media, and live streaming of HD TV and movies while switching between Ku and Ka satellites,” said a release from ViaSat.

Exede services for general aviation will be based on the same ViaSat satellite broadband technology as Exede Internet, now serving more than 640,000 households in the U.S.  Exede In The Air high-speed in-flight internet for commercial air passengers; Exede Business tailored to business subscribers with added speed and data; and Exede Enterprise for live events, field operations, and disaster response.
