KLM introduces inflight gift service

By Rick Lundstrom

With the service KLM allows people to surprise a traveling friend or family member with a present while inflight.

On Facebook and Twitter we often received requests to surprise travelers for their honeymoon, birthday or anniversary,” said Martijn van der Zee, Senior Vice President E-Commerce AIR FRANCE KLM in the announcement of the new program. “It was quite a logical step to facilitate this. Gift-giving above the clouds will make the journey a unique experience.”

Via the webshop KLM has an assortment gifts such as a glass of Champagne, an extra comfortable seat, a bottle of perfume or confectionary. The giftwrapped present is hand-delivered by the crew and the giver can add a personal message on the accompanying card.

“Perfectly fitting its ‘little acts of kindness’ belief, KLM is the first airline offering a range of gifts to surprise a traveling family member or friend on board,” said a release from the airline.

KLM Wannagives also offers home delivery, and members airline’s frequent flier program can use miles for their purchase.
