LSG Sky Chefs enters market in Kazakhstan

LSG Sky Chefs, has entered the airline catering market in Kazakhstan through a collaboration with JSC Almaty Catering Services.

The partner is a subsidiary of Almaty International Airport. The airport handles approximately 4 million passengers per year, about half of the country’s passenger traffic.

Almaty Catering Services was founded in 1998 and is the sole caterer at the airport. The catering facility covers approximately 2,800 square meters and produces more than 7,600 meals per day on average. Currently, some 400 staff provide services for 11 major customers.

“This new partnership is a true win-win situation,” says Silvio Canettoli, LSG Sky Chefs’ Regional COO Europe. “LSG Sky Chefs can participate in the future growth of the Kazakhstan market while the local team benefits from our extensive experience regarding quality and productivity.”

Major airlines operating at Almaty are: Air Astana, SCAT, Transaero, Lufthansa German Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Ukraine International, Etihad Airways, Czech Airlines, Bek Air and Hainan Airlines.
