Servair takes stake in Morocco caterer ACAS
Servair has taken a 40% stake in Atlas Catering Airlines Services (ACAS), which operates three units in Morocco under a strategic partnership signed Monday in Casablanca.
ACAS was a 100% subsidiary of the country’s flag carrier, Royal Air Maroc. The carrier is in the midst of a restructuring program that calls for outsourcing activities that are not part of its core airline business. The new company will be called Atlas Servair.
The signing ceremony was held this week with Royal Air Maroc CEO Abderrafia Zouitene and Servair’s new CEO Michel Emeyriat.
Atlas Servair has catering units in Casablanca, Marrakesh and Agadir that have a production capacity of 35,000 meals per day and employ 750 people. According to the ACAS website, the company was formed in 2004 and began operations in March of 2005. The three units cater more than 20 airlines operating service to the three cities.
In June of last year, Royal Air Maroc conducted a tender to select a partner company. According to Servair, seven companies were vying for the partnership.
