Global Eagle brings UNO on board

Global Eagle Entertainment has announced it is collaborating with Mattel to bring classic card game UNO™ to seatback systems in 2019, adding to the 120 games the company currently makes available to passengers on 100 airlines.

Per Norén, Global Eagle President, said in a statement: “Mattel is a world-class, global learning, development and play company. We are proud to partner with Mattel to expand the breadth of entertainment portfolio for children on board flights worldwide."

The company also recently signed a contract with Sanrio, the parent company of Hello Kitty, and Hasbro, owner of Monopoly.

UNO is available in over 80 countries and was ranked the number-one game by market research firm NPD Group; in the future, Global Eagle hopes to expand the game into maritime and additional markets.

Global Eagle designs and adapts popular games for the travel market at its Digital Media and Games in Montreal. “Our 120 games are played more than 150 million times by passengers annually,” said Norén. “We are driving passenger engagement for all ages and tapping into a growing $108 billion worldwide market for games.”
