Amtrak adds to food cart service
The Acela Express high-speed train from Amtrak now has cart food service on anywhere from 10 to 12 trains on its Northeast corridor route from New York to Washington.
The service has proved popular and convenient for passengers, said the rail line. Amtrak says that it has also upgraded food service in first class along the same routes.
The rail line has also seen an uptick in passenger traffic. In the 10 months ending July 31, 2.6 million passengers rode Amtrak’s Acela Express train, a 20 percent increase from the previous year. The result has been US$336 million in revenue for the period, a 23 percent increase from the previous year.
A story on Amtrak’s new agreement with GrandLuxe Railroads can be found in the September-October issue of PAX International.
