Newrest formed from company management

A new catering company, purchased by management from Compass Group’s Eurest Inflight Services/Catair has goals of expansion within and outside the airline sector and doubling sales over the next five years.

The formation of Newrest, based in Toulouse, France, was official September 1. More than 30 members of the management team are now majority owners of the company, with Compass Group remaining an 8.5 percent shareholder.

From the beginning, Newrest is stressing a diversified selection of services “like no other company in the world is offering,” says Philippe Chavaroc who will handle marketing and communication for Newrest as well as management of the The Inflighters, the company’s logistics and inflight sales subsidiary.

Among the services offered by Newrest in addition to airline catering will be retail airport concessions, industrial food service (healthcare, education and business and industry), and surplus services such as maintenance.

The company projects sales in the first year of €320 million (US$404 million). The company derives approximately 66 percent of its turnover from airline catering, with units throughout the Mediterranean region and North Africa, Mexico and the Netherlands. In November, Newrest will open a new unit, at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. The 4,500 square meter unit will produce approximately 8,000 meals per day for four current airline customers.

In addition to Chavaroc, other members of the management team will remain in place with Olivier Sadran as the chief executive officer, Christian Bris as commercial director, Jean Louis Chicon, chief operations officer and Matthieu Jeandel as chief financial officer.
