Trader Vic’s fare now on United first class

A series of exotic meals from the restaurant and bar chain Trader Vic’s is being served on first class on United Airlines flights between the mainland and Hawaii starting this month.

Sate spiced glazed short ribs; prawn and black mushroom kebabs are among the offerings. Later, the airline will bring aboard the Trader Vic’s signature black-mushroom stuffed chicken breast. Trader Vic’s design chef Paul Fabre collaborated with United’s executive chef Jerry Gulli on the new menu offerings.

United currently serves its first- and business-class customers Trader Vic's entrees and complimentary Trader Vic's signature Mai Tai cocktails on most flights between the U.S. mainland and Hawaii. Trader Vic’s sandwiches are also on United and Ted flights of five hours or longer.

Trader Vic’s Restaurant Group was founded in 1934 and now includes an expanding collection of upscale, company-owned and franchised restaurants steeped in island-style service and atmosphere, stretching from the United States to Europe. Restaurants have opened this year in Las Vegas; Dallas; Destin, Fla.; Shanghai, China; Amman, Jordan; and Doha, Qatar.
