ANZ plans Pink Flight for gay and lesbian Mardi Gras
Americans attending the February 2008 Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in Sydney can fly in style on a special 777 flight from San Francisco on Air New Zealand.
ANZ announced plans to “paint the sky pink” September 17. The 777 will be filled with 300 extravagantly dressed partygoers who will be entertained can-can style and able to sip pink drinks throughout the flight. Contests and screening of gay-themed movies will be part of the overnight flight. Passengers will be roused from the post-party sleep with pink themed food, more cocktails and gift bags.
“Sydney Mardi Gras is one of the most spectacular costume events in the world, so we feel it’s only fitting to offer a flight that truly embodies the spirit and celebration in an unforgettable way,” said Roger Poulton, Air New Zealand’s vice president of the Americas, in the September announcement of the special flight. “Air New Zealand takes pride in its gay-friendliness and sense of fun, so this Pink Flight will be a blast for everyone.”
This is the second Pink Flight operated by Air New Zealand. The first took place this year between Auckland and Sydney.
