EVA upgrades three 747s
EVA Air plans to use three of its refurbished 747s on routes between Taipei and London and Vancouver once the full retrofit of the -400 series is completed in December of this year.
EVA will be phasing out is Super First Class Cabin by December of this year, opting for a Premium Laurel, Elite and Economy configuration. The 747s seat 372 passengers with 36 in Premium Laurel, 56 in Elite and 280 in Economy.
EVA picked Evergreen Technologies to do the work. The first retrofitted 747-400 was rolled out in June on routes to the United States. EVA has retrofitted the galleys with steam ovens, espresso machines and wine chillers. The lavatories have touch-free faucets and more space. The aircraft has also been updated with audio and video on demand and a digital air-to-ground short message service for passengers sending to mobile phones or e-mail addresses.
