LSG Sky Chefs to sell Spain units to Newrest
Shares in five kitchens that handle airline catering and industry food services in Spain will be sold by LSG Sky Chefs Europe Holdings to Newrest Servair S.L. the two companies announced November 20.
The units are located in Madrid, Barcelona, Palma de Majorca, Malaga and Gerona. “Both parties plan to transfer ownership as soon as possible,” said a November 20 release on the purchase.
The five units are part of LSG Sky Chefs Espana S.A. Division. Antitrust authorities and LSG Sky Chefs’ corporate procedures must yet approve the purchase.
For LSG Sky Chefs, the move means that the caterer can shed units that have not been profitable in recent years. “We are, however, confident that Newrest will continue to provide excellent customer service in the Spanish market,” said Thomas Nagel, LSG Sky Chefs chief operating officer in the November announcement.
The two parties did not announce terms of the agreement.
A full story on Newrest’s recent acquisition of a large share of Saudia Catering can be found in the November/December issue of PAX International.
