Qantas gets heart healthy designation

Out of Australia, passengers on Qantas Airways can pick from a new selection of healthy meals that have been given the nod of approval from the country's National Heart Foundation.

The designation is something of a first for the airline. Qantas says it was the first licensee to get the country's Tick of Approval. Lesley Grant, general manager of customer product and service says that the airline is also the first in the world to provide third party approval of the healthy meal options. Grant says the Heart Foundation has a strict guideline to meet the meal requirements.

Six meals are now being boarded by Qantas that are considered heart healthy: four chicken dishes, braised beef, steamed fish are teamed with rice and vegetables and herbs to make up the healthy options.
