SriLankan Catering medals

SriLankan Catering claimed a total of 23 medals in Gold, Silver and Bronze categories at a competition called the Culinary Art, held in its home country including more than 1,400 participants.

The caterer claimed six gold, six silver and 11 bronze medals in the competition, held at the end of September. Participants also included catering and restaurant professionals from the Maldives, India and Australia.

SriLankan operates a 13,500 meal per day unit out of Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo. The unit was commissioned last year and built at a cost of US$25 million. It has also received its ISO9001-2000 certification.

“It is a considerable achievement as an inflight catering company to distinguish itself and win such a high tally of meals in a hotel-oriented competition,” said SriLankan CEO Dilip Nijhawan.
