Delta expands Todd English meals for sale

Delta Air Lines announced November 1 that it would add a range of food for purchase items from celebrity chef Todd English on flights of 2,000 miles or four hours within the lower 48 states in the United States.

Breakfast entrées selling for US$4 include a Nutella brand banana and peanut butter and jelly sandwich. There will also be a cheddar, turkey, bacon and apple butter croissant selling for US$6.

For lunch and dinner, English has developed a grilled Mediterranean shrimp salad with romaine lettuce, pitted kalamate olives, diced tomatoes, cucumber strips, red onions, feta cheese and grilled shrimp for US$9. A roast beef cobb sandwich with sliced meat, romaine lettuce, avocado egg salad and bacon on Cuban bread with blue cheese dressing will sell for US$8. Finally, a chilled black olive spaghetti salad with basil leaves; romaine lettuce hearts and balsamic vinaigrette will also sell for US$8.

The airline launched its food for sale program in September on mainline flights between John F. Kennedy Airport in New York and four West Coast cities. With the change, nearly 20 more origin cities will have the service in economy class. More routes are planned in 2008, says the airline.
