LSG Sky Chefs teams up with China Partners

Last month, LSG Sky Chefs announced that it has forged partnerships for additional expansions into China in two regions.

On October 17, the caterer announced collaboration in the Yunnan province with Eastern Air Catering Investment and Kunming Air Traffic Control Bureau. The agreement will run for 20 years. The new company, called Yunnan Eastern Air Catering Co. Ltd. will operate at Kunming Waujiba International Airport, and newly opened airports in Lijiang and Zhongdian. Plans call for the construction of a 12,000 square meter catering unit at Kunming that will produce 25,000 meals per day.

Elsewhere, the caterer signed a joint venture agreement for 30 years with HNA Air Catering Holding Co. to form a company called Gansu HNA LSG Sky Chefs Co. Ltd. The agreement will mean a new catering facility as Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport in Gansu province along the Mongolian border. LSG Sky Chefs will also manage a small unit at Dunhuang Airport in northwest China.

Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport currently serves around 2.6 million passengers per year. A new catering unit will open there in late 2008. It will be approximately 2,000 square meters with a production capacity of 6,000 meals per day.
