BA to audit catering facilities with Medina and IATA
The International Air Transport Association announced in May that British Airways would audit its catering facilities with the help of Medina Quality Assurance Services and IATA.
The IATA Catering Quality Assurance Programme will look over operations at 110 catering facilities used by BA. The IATA program was developed to allow airlines to reduce the number of audits performed by members of the Association. Its goal is to improve safety and establish a single standard airline catering audit. Medina Quality has conducted more than 10,000 audits worldwide in its 27 years in business.
“The ICQA Programme allows British Airways to audit caterers and share the cost of auditing with other participating airlines that cater from the same facility,” said Simon Soni, general manager of catering operations. “Not only does that make good economic sense for British Airways, but it also means fewer caterer audits overall and less confusion among caterers who may currently be audited by a number of airlines using different stands and audit methods.”
