Gate Gourmet and ARINC team up for on-board sales

In future sales programs, Gate Gourmet will offer the SkyBuy brand sales technology system made by ARINC, Inc. for outsourced catering and buy on-board operations, the two companies announced at the end of April.

Plans were in the works to bring SkyBuy to onboard retail programs on easyJet, and Norwegian and Jetstar in Asia, Gate Gourmet announced.

With the SkyBuy system, airlines can sell food and beverages, in-flight entertainment, duty free items and rail passes, and additional tickets to shows at destinations. Passengers pay with credit card, cash or smart cards and in multiple currencies.

“It is an industry breakthrough in sales management systems, reducing the workload of flight attendants and providing airlines and caterers with near real-time data on sales and inventory,” said Herman Anbeek, senior vice president and chief commercial officer of the gategroup.
