Bitter passengers want new coffee on First ScotRail
Passengers on First ScotRail seem to prefer something other than the fresh ground coffee they have been receiving since the rail line introduced what it thought was a better quality brew.
The Scotsman newspaper reported March 13 that there has been a mini-revolt by passengers who found the fresh brewed coffee boarded in 2004 undrinkable without an inordinate amount of cream or milk. Other complaints include cups that are too large, compared to the pre-packed cups of instant coffee that the rail line had previously boarded.
Other train operators in the UK, notably Virgin Trains and GNER have made high-profile efforts to upgrade their coffees. Virgin Trains also recently began boarding a Fair Trade coffee.
To help ScotRail find out what exactly its passengers would like, officials tell The Scotsman that passengers will now be invited to take part in a sampling of instant and ground coffees.
