Lufthansa to spruce up lounges
“We never stop working on expansion of our position as a premium carrier. Lounges are a key element in our product philosophy,” notes Thierry Antinori, Executive Vice President Marketing and Sales at Lufthansa German Airlines, in the March 3 announcement that the carrier will spend up to €150 million (US$233 million) on improvements at its first and business class lounges.
The airline recently opened a new Senator and Business lounge at Cologne/Bonn airport. The facility can hold 170 people in 800 square meters of floor space. In the near future, the airline will complete renovation on lounges in Hamburg, in the terminal C and D area of Frankfurt. The lounge in Frankfurt will allow first and business class passengers access to gates from two levels.
Improvements around the world include expansion and modernization at the John F. Kennedy Airport in New York and Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. The airline is also planning a project at the airport in Mumbai.
