In the Zone earns Qantas Mercury kudos

A training and communications tool designed for the crew at Qantas Airways claimed Gold status in the Skills Development Category and the overall Mercury Award at this year’s Conference March 7-9 in Cologne.

Flanked by the outgoing ITCA President Khalid Al Duwaisan of Kuwait Aviation Services Company and outgoing Mercury Awards Chairman Michael Koenig Achenbach, and past winners over the award’s 25 year, history Qantas director of inflight services David Young accepted the award and applause from a large contingency of attendees the last day of the event. Judges this year picked winners from 25 finalists in five categories

Qantas developed In the Zone during the economy class relaunch last year. The program is described by the airline as a training and communications model and brings multi-media training and internal branding into the hands of the crew. More involvement by the crew resulted in improvements in performance and customer satisfaction. Qantas says that In the Zone will be help the airline establish a service platform for the future.
