Buy-on-board a hit with ANZ
Air New Zealand is saying that its new buy-on-board service launched in March sells out routinely by the end of a workday on its fleet of 737s.
Customer demand has surpassed expectations, said the carrier’s general manager domestic Bruce Parton in the April 5 announcement of the service.
Air New Zealand is working with the U.S. company Wishbone on the healthy offerings that sell for $3 to $7 on board. Among the products are fresh fruit salad, sandwiches, salads and sweet treats.
The airline routinely offers two Wishbone products with a fruit salad and a berry yogurt.
“Cabin crew have also reported a jump in the number of beverages being purchased as customers enjoy a wine, beer or soft drink with their meal,” says Parton.
ANZ is refining the product selection and is considering a meal selection for sale on its fleet of A320s.
